March 13, 2008:With the signing of Julius Jones, the Seahawks no longer need Shawn Alexander. From what I hear Chad Johnson wants out of Cincinnati and the Bengals want a running back. Any chance this mega deal could go down? (Dave, Seattle)

Only on Seahawks internet message board would a rumor like this ever get any serious thought. Although Alexander grew up in Florence Kentucky and is a Cincinnati-area high school Hall of Fame athlete, his skills are not popular enough among the Bengals front office to warrant a trade for one of their best players. Despite what a number of major media outlets have reported, the Bengals will not move Johnson mainly because it would be too expensive. Depending on the source, trading Ocho Cinco could cost anywhere for $8 to 10 million. Also when you consider that Alexander's skills are on the decline and that Seattle may cut him in the near future, it would be absurd for Cincinnati to even entertain the thought. It's a nice try Dave, but there are no Memphis Grizzlies in the NFL, so your team can't steal a star like Pau Gasol for a bag of peanuts.
